CHEAP CUTS DOC FEST
Cheap Cuts Documentary Film Festival is the only UK festival dedicated exclusively to short documentary. Cheap Cuts showcases the best of British and international short documentary talent. We strongly believe in content over form and are interested in the stories you have to tell and not the equipment or budget used to do so.
In recent years we have become the go to place for short documentary creations in the city of London. We have collaborated with organisations such as Arts Council England, Barbican and London Borough of Culture to produce various programmes highlighting the importance of independent cinema. We help our filmmakers to make industry connections and to find new ways of distributing their works by partnering with other like-minded festivals and organisations worldwide. Our awards include free submission to other festivals like ECU independent film festival in Paris, Hot Springs Short Film Fest. We organise short documentary screening with other european cinemas and cinemaclubs to ensure the amazing work of our filmmakers gets seen by a wider audience all over the world.
Cheap Cuts is committed to helping promote equality within film and every year at least 50% of our programme is formed of short documentaries directed by women. Our programme offers a variety of filmmaking styles; including experimental, animation and observational documentary and there are some great appearances from films that really push the boundaries of documentary.
