Last Resort - Danielle Swindlles - 12.46 mins | UK
The collapse of the “bucket and spade” holiday since the 1970’s has left Blackpool with a vast landscape of dormant guesthouses, which are now beginning to fundamentally change in nature. .
We look at the shifting landscape of Blackpool through the “The Ashleigh Hotel”, now an eighteen bedroom hostel with residents staying as long as thirty-five years and Haworth’s Bingo, still staked firmly in the town’s defiantly cheerful, optimistic traditions where anyone can try their luck and win big.
Danielle is 21 years old and a recent graduate of the Manchester School of Art where she studied Filmmaking. She is currently completing a research degree focusing on the human experience of landscape.
